Attention! We will be using the new rule set recently sent out by the IJF at the Denver Judo Spring Tournament. Changes to be aware of:
- There is no yuko score. All scores will be Waza ari or Ippon. Waza ari do not add up to Ippon.
- Scores will be awarded for hold downs as follows: 10 - 19 seconds = waza ari and 20 seconds = ippon.
- The first offense for touching below the belt during tachi waza will be shido. The second offense will be hansokumake.
- All senior matches, males and female will be 4 minutes. Juniors and masters will be 3 minutes.
- Matches must be won by a positive score ie you cannot win by shido in regulation time. In golden score you can win via shido.
- The emphasis on these changes is to promote positive and aggressive judo. Gripping rules have been relaxed to facilitate more technical judo.
