Johnson and Wales University MMA Wildcats have donated funds to establish an Athlete Travel Fund with the Colorado Judo League. The “Wildcats Collegiate Athletes Travel Fund” has been established by this generous donation to CJL in order to support travel and expenses for competition or training events for up-and-coming CJL Collegiate athletes.
Competitions sanctioned by USA Judo and/or USJF and/or USJI for which these funds are available are:
NCJA National Collegiate Judo Championship
USA Judo Senior Nationals
USA Judo Presidents Cup
Clinic fees and travel expenses for competition orientated training clinics and camps.
Timing: Applications available – starting 07/01/2021, application forms are due prior to and after each competition and/or training event you plan to attend.
Eligibility criteria for CJL Collegiate Athletes:
1) Currently enrolled in a college 2- or 4-year degree program in or out of state.2) Colorado residents of good moral character and social conduct.
3) USA Judo and CJL club affiliation:
a) Must have been a USA Judo member for the previous year.
b) Must be currently registered as a USA Judo member.
c) Must be a member of CJL registered club at time of application.
4) The applicant shall send an application form prior to the events:
- Competition: funds will be approved as at a minimum and maximum dollar amount contingent on the applicant's performance at the event.
- Training/clinics: funds will be approved prior to the event.
- The athlete will need to send CJL an after event report outlining the athletes performance at the events or the training received at the clinic/camp. The committee will then release the funds as reimbursement to the athlete.
5) Except under unusual circumstances individual grant requests shall be for no more than a maximum of $200.00 .
6) No single athlete can be directly funded for more than $400 in a single year.
